transportation
Although the Sioux people had limited ways of transportation, they were very effective.
One example of transportation they used were horses. Horses were commonly used in hunting, such as the buffalo hunt. They were also used for travelling; by transporting people or heavy goods. In the picture to the left, the horse was used to carry a travois during a trade or for travelling purposes.
Another way of transportation was by using a travois (refer to picture to the left). A travois was made of buffalo skin that was spread over two long poles. It only carried goods to other areas and was mostly pulled by a horse.
The Sioux people also used boats as another way of transportation. Boats were made from buffalo hides that were sewn together onto round frames made of willow. When the willow frames of the boat wore out, the Sioux people would remove the buffalo skin for future uses and they would burn the wood.
