CLIMATE
In the area where the Sioux people lived, they were often hit with abrupt changes in the weather, including extremes of heat and cold. In winter, it's swept with fierce Cayuse winds from the East and warm Chinook winds from the Northwest.
In general, the Great Plains have a wide variety of weather. Wind speeds are often very high. Dust storms occur mostly every year or so.
This area is located in the humid continental climate, which equal to boiling summers and harsh, freezing winters.
